Dubai: A young Yemeni man has been hailed as a hero after rescuing a woman and her child from severe floods in the Ibb governorate.

The daring rescue unfolded in 'Al Khashaba' area of the 'Jabla' district, where torrential waters had overwhelmed the streets and surrounding areas.

A gripping video of the incident shows the young man hanging from a rope, precariously positioned on the side of a building, as he reaches out to save the woman who was clutching her child tightly amidst the raging flood.

Recent heavy rains have caused devastating floods across Yemen, resulting in numerous casualties and significant damage.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), dozens of Yemenis have lost their lives in the floods.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reported that about 180,000 people have been affected by the floods since the beginning of the month.

The floods have led to extensive damage to homes, infrastructure, and agricultural land, leaving thousands homeless and prompting a call for $5 million in emergency aid.
