Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al Jubeir, said Wednesday that the kingdom’s position is clear in Yemen, that it stands by its legitimacy and condemns Al Houthi violations there.

Saudi Arabia is fighting alongside Yemen’s internationally-backed government to restore its rule after a coup in 2014 by Iran-backed Al Houthi rebels unseated him.

Al Jubeir added that Saudi Arabia has continued to provide critical support for the Yemeni people to overcome their plight.

Millions of Yemenis are living in harsh conditions, under the poverty line and face a food scarcity problem due to the war.

He also called on Iran to end its human rights violations in Ahvaz, in southwestern Iran, where the people have risen up against their government.

In a press conference on Wednesdsay, Al Jubeir spoke also about the situation in Syria and Palestine.

He urged a comprehensive and political solution to the Syrian crisis, which is reeling from an eight-year civil war there.

He also called on international bodies to work for the preservation of the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent state with east Jerusalem as its capital.
