Cairo: A rocket attack, believed to have been mounted by Yemen’s Iran-aligned Al Houthi militia, killed Sunday nine people during a military parade in the southern province of Dhale, according to media reports.

The attack hit the parade staged in a playground in Dhale, leaving 30 others wounded, Sky News TV reported.

The Security Belt, a force linked to the Southern Transitional Council, confirmed the attack in a tweet, saying that an explosion targeted a graduation ceremony of its cadets earlier Sunday.

The rocket exploded at the end of the event, Yemeni media quoted witnesses as saying.

In the past, the Houthis had claimed responsibility for a series of drone and rocket attacks against Yemeni government troops.

Al Houthis have plunged the impoverished country into a devastating feud after they toppled the internationally recognised government and seized the capital Sana’a in late 2014.
