Yemen: Arab coalition destroys two Houthi booby-trapped boats

They posed an imminent threat to shipping lines and world trade

Abu Dhabi: The Saudi-led Arab coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen targeted and destroyed two boats which were legitimate military targets of the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia 6km south of the Al Salif port. They posed an imminent threat to the shipping lines and world trade and a threat to regional and international security, and were destroyed at 3.20am on Thursday, spokesperson for the coalition forces, Colonel Turki Al Maliki, said.

Colonel Al Maliki explained that the destroyed targets were booby-trapped and controlled remotely, 6km 215 meters off the coast.

He said the targeting process was consistent with the International Humanitarian Law and its customary rules, and preventive measures were taken to protect civilians.

Colonel Al Maliki added that the Houthi terrorist militia is taking Hodeidah governorate to launch ballistic missiles, drones, booby-trapped and remote-operated boats, as well as randomly planting sea mines, in flagrant violation of the International Humanitarian Law and in violation of the provisions of the Stockholm Agreement.

He affirmed the leadership of the coalition continued to apply the necessary measures to deal with such legitimate military targets that pose an imminent threat in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules, and support efforts of the special envoy of the UN Secretary-General to implement the Stockholm agreement, end the coup and reach a sustainable and comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
