Saudi Arabia: Man arrested after failed attempt to smash Riyadh ATM

Abu Dhabi: Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh police have arrested a man on charges of allegedly attempting to break open an ATM in Al Naseem district, east of the Saudi capital, police said.

The man, a Saudi in his 40s, entered the ATM kiosk and tried to use a tool to break open the machine to steal cash, but failed and drove away in a car without a number plate, Major Khaled Al Kreidis, spokesperson of the Riyadh police, said.

The car was seized and man was held in custody and an offence under the Saudi Penal Code has been registered.

The suspect was moved to the public prosecution pending further questions and trial, police said.
