Additionally, the Interior Ministry announced the execution of a Syrian expatriate on Thursday in the Al Jouf governorate in northwestern Saudi Arabia. The individual had been sentenced to death for smuggling amphetamine tablets into the kingdom.

In a separate incident, Saudi police recently arrested two foreign visitors who had robbed a resident expatriate at knifepoint. The arrests took place in Tabuk, with coordination from Riyadh police, as the suspects, both Syrian nationals on visit visas, attempted to leave the kingdom. A video showed the pair attacking a Pakistani expatriate and stealing his belongings, according to a security statement.
