Cairo: The Saudi Defence Ministry said that three soldiers were executed Saturday after they were convicted of high treason.

“An investigation with them resulted in convicting them on committing the crime of high treason by collaborating with the enemy in a way harming the kingdom’s entity and its military interests,” the ministry said in a statement.

The three soldiers were referred to a competent court that convicted them and sentenced them to death, it added. The rulings went through all legal stages and their implementation was approved according to a royal order.

Devoted men

The ministry, naming the three convicts, said their executions were carried out at the military command of the southern region.

“While announcing this, the Defence Ministry confirms its confidence in the devoted men of the Armed Forces, who have kept their oath and sacrificed their blood to preserve security and stability of this homeland, while denouncing at the same time, this alien heinous crime,” the statement said, according to the Saudi news agency SPA.
