Saudi Arabia: Dentist beaten up by colleague in government hospital

Abu Dhabi: A dentist at a government hospital in Duba, a small city on the northern Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia, in Tabuk province, was severely beaten up inside his clinic several days ago by a colleague, Saudi media reported.

The assaulted physician, Mohammad Sa`id Hussein, told Okaz his colleague had attacked him in his clinic while he was working in the hospital. “He broke into my clinic abruptly, closed the door tightly and severely beat me without any reason,” Hussein said.

He added, “The hospital administration did not take any action regarding the beating incident, except for contacting the security authorities that interrogated him.”

He noted that the attacker had previously broken into his clinic and insulted him.

Hussein continued, “When I asked to obtain a copy of the medical report stating that I had been severely beaten up, the hospital administration refused, and confirmed that the report was sent to the police and is considered one of the profession’s secrets.”

Okaz, in turn, contacted the media spokesman for health affairs in Tabuk, Hani Al Mutairi, and inquired about the incident, but he did not respond until the news was prepared.
