Cairo: Saudi Arabia’s air defence forces intercepted two drones launched by Yemen’s Al Houthis and targeting the city of Khamis Mushait, a Saudi-led coalition spokesman said in a statement released by Saudi Press Agency early on Tuesday.

The state-run Saudi Press Agency reported Tuesday, quoting military spokesman Col. Turki al-Maliki, that soldiers "intercepted" two drones launched by the Houthis.

“The terrorist criminal Al Houthis are trying to target civil installations in desperate and repeated attempts,” he added in a statement.

“We confirm our legitimate right in taking and implementing the proper deterrence measures in dealing with these aggressive acts,” Al Turki said, according to the official Saudi news agency.

The Iranian-allied Houthis increasingly have targeted the kingdom with bomb-carrying drones.
