Arab coalition foils Al Houthi terror attack in Red Sea
Iran-backed militia attempts to attack commercial ships with explosive-laden boat
Abu Dhabi: Naval forces of the Arab Coalition said they have foiled a terrorist attack launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting navigation south of the Red Sea on Wednesday.
The spokesperson of the Arab Coalition, Colonel Turki Al Maliki, said that on Wednesday, the Houthis attempted to attack commercial ships south of the Red Sea using an explosive-laden boat, according to a statement on the Saudi Press Agency.
“A booby-trapped boat was destroyed, thwarting a terrorist act targeting navigation south Red Sea,” Al Maliki said.
He stated, “There is minor damage to a merchant vessel, as a result of fragments of the booby-trapped boat.”
Al Maliki stated that the hostilities of the Houthi militia are threatening lines of navigation and international trade.
Al Maliki stressed that the threat of navigation and international trade by the Iran-backed Houthi militia is a serious act of terrorism, adding that the Arab Coalition forces will continue to neutralise all the hostile terrorist capabilities of the militia.
