Qatar announces 1,830 new COVID-19 cases
Dubai: Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health announced 1,830 new coronavirus cases and two new coronavirus-related deaths on Friday, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 40,481 while the death toll went up to 19.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Public Health on Twitter, the ministry announced 605 new recoveries, bringing the total number of patients recovered to 7,893, leaving 32,569 active cases.
A total of 175 COVID-19 patients are now receiving intensive care treatment, after 13 more patients were admitted to the ICU in the past 24 hours.
Qatar has been ramping up its efforts to test more people, and has conducted a total of 180,642 coronavirus tests, after 5,160 new tests over the past 24 hours.
The first coronavirus case in Qatar was confirmed on February 27, but the number of cases began to rise more steeply from mid-March onwards, beginning with the announcement of 238 new cases in a single day on March 11.
