COVID-19: Qatar reports 1,700 new cases

Dubai: The total coronavirus infections in Qatar has jumped to 67,195 after 1,700 new cases were detected by Ministry of Public Health on Saturday, the Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the virus has claimed two more lives, pushing the country’s death toll to 51.

Meanwhile, 1,592 COVID-19 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 42,527 cases, while leaving 24,617 active cases under treatment.

The ministry has also revealed it has conducted 5,029 tests in last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 251,391 tests.

The ministry affirmed that there has been a small decrease in the number acute COVID-19 positive patients being admitted to intensive care thanks to the measures taken by the Ministry of Public Health and the authorities concerned to limit the spread of the virus, the most important of which is the early detection of the virus which can contribute significantly to reducing the severity of infection.

The new confirmed cases of infection have been placed under complete isolation in the various medical facilities in the country.The ministry said that the new deaths recorded today were both aged 57 and were suffering from chronic diseases,.
