UK Defence secretary Wallace concludes visit to Oman
He attended several meetings with high-ranking officials
Muscat: Defence secretary of UK Ben Wallace left Oman yesterday after his official three-day visit to the Sultanate. Wallace attended several meetings with high-ranking officials and met with ministers including Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the two sides touched on the existing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in various fields.
The keenness of the governments of the two countries to develop and strengthen them in a way that brings mutual benefits were also tabled for discussion. The two sides also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
British Ambassador to the Sultanate Hamish Cowell too was present for the meeting, as were high-ranking officials from Oman’s Ministry of Defense.
Two countries
During this visit Wallace also met with Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs, Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said at the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Al-Mussala camp.
Discussions were held on topics of existing cooperation between the defense ministries of the two countries and ways to enhance them.
The meeting was attended by Dr Mohammed bin Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General of Oman’s Ministry of Defense, and from the British side, Hamish Cowell, along with the Defense Attache at the British Embassy were present.
Wallace also met with Lieutenant General Sultan bin Muhammad al Nu’mani, Minister of the Royal Office, who received Wallace in his office.
