Muscat: Oman’s Ministry of Health has started a year-long blood donation campaign, Be Proactive, aimed at reaching out to youth to donate blood.

The Department of Blood Bank Services (DBBS), responsible for the blood-bank related services tweeted that the campaign focuses on motivating Omani youth to take initiative in this noble humanitarian exercise and spread the practice of blood donation.

The campaign was launched under the patronage of Sayyid Kamel bin Fahd Al Said, Assistant Secretary-General of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs.

Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, the shortage of blood was felt at the hospitals and blood banks too were stretched to meet the requirement.

Save lives

Blood contributed by a health person every three months, can help save the lives of twelve patients, with no adverse health consequence to the donor.
