Oman: Three arrested over drug smuggling

Drugs include tone of crystal meth, 16kg of morphine, 3kg of hashish

Dubai: Omani security authorities have arrested three people on charges of smuggling drugs with the aim of trafficking and circulating them in the country, local media reported. The suspects smuggled more than a quarter of a tonne of crystal meth, 16kg of morphine and 3kg of hashish into the Sultanate.

In a statement issued by the Royal Oman Police, “The suspects were tracked down and monitored by the General Administration for Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, in cooperation with the Police Command of North Al Batinah Governorate.”

The Royal Oman Police seized the drugs that were in the suspects’possession when arrested red handed. They were remanded in police custody and referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and trial, the statement said.
