Cairo: The Royal Navy of Oman rescued a Pakistani-flagged ship that broke down off the capital Muscat, the Omani news agency has reported.

The vessel had developed a technical problem in its engines around 50 nautical miles north east of Muscat. The rescue operation was carried out in coordination with the Maritime Security Centre and the Search and Rescue Centre of the Royal Air Force of Oman, the agency added.

Technical teams from the Royal Navy of Oman provided the necessary support, including logistical substances for the Pakistani ship.

The ship was later towed to the Sultan Qaboos Port in Muscat.
