Oman: Indian artist Unni Krishnan commits suicide

50-year-old graphic designer and signboard artist found dead in Muscat apartment

Dubai: Indian expatriate artist Unni Krishnan allegedly committed suicide in his apartment in Muscat on Saturday, the Royal Oman Police said on Sunday.

The 50-year-old graphic designer and signboard artist was found hanging with a white rope. He was already dead when the police arrived at the scene.

A police official said: “The Ruwi Police Station received a report at 4pm on Saturday about an Indian expat found hanging with a white rope tied around his neck at his apartment on the Honda Road in Ruwi.”

According to local media, the crime investigation team and the Royal Police arrived at the scene where they found Krishnan already dead and transferred his body to the police hospital.

Further investigations are going on to find out why the victim committed suicide.

“The incident was reported by his friend, who called him several times, but he did not answer his repeated calls,” the police officer said.

Krishnan, a skilled graphic designer and signboard artist, is a well-known member of the Indian cultural community. His death came as a shock for the Indian community in Oman.
