Oman: Home garden competition open to residents and citizens of Dhofar

Sultanate is known for its decorative roundabouts, highway medians and footpaths

Muscat: Dhofar Municipality has announced “the most beautiful home garden” competition as part of the Green Dhofar campaign.

The invitation calling for participation by the Parks and Landscaping Department of the Dhofar Municipality was shared through its social media handles.

The contest is open to all residents and citizens, Omani or expatriates, as long as they are residing in the Dhofar governorate as tenants or owners of the homes they live in.

Monsoon season

Dhofar, known for its monsoon season, locally called the Khareef season from July to September, attracts visitors from the larger catchment of GCC countries, as well as from around the world. Chartered flights from European countries carrying discerning visitors are not uncommon to Salalah.

The competition criteria among others include the variety of flora and fauna, design element used in creating the decorative plant and floral patches, usage of innovative modern techniques in the garden, environment friendly measures in irrigating the plants and provision of seating areas and walkways in the garden.

Oman is known for the decorative roundabouts, highway medians and footpath that are adorned with seasonal flowering plants. The country also has innumerable landscaped gardens and parks that dot the cities and towns.
