Expats form less than 40% of Oman’s population

Sultanate's total population stands at 4,507,468 out of which 2,757,983 are Omanis

Dubai: The number of expats living in Oman has decreased to below 40 per cent of Oman’s population, according to the latest statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

According to NCSI, the total population of Oman now stands at 4,507,468 of whom 2,757,983 are Omanis and 1,749,485 are expatriates.

Expat community

Statistics showed that 61.20 per cent of the total population are Omanis and 38.80 per cent are expats.

According to NCSI’s March statistics, Bangladesh nationals continue to be the largest expat community in the country with a total 546,615 workers and their dependents residing in the Sultanate followed by Indian expats with 491,427 Indians living in Oman.

Pakistani expats are the third largest community with a total population of 182,885
