COVID-19: Oman’s tally rises to 6,794 with 424 fresh cases
Cairo: Oman’s Health Ministry Friday recorded 424 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing to 6,794 the country’s overall infections, the Omani news agency ONA reported.
The newly diagnosed cases include 191 Omanis and 233 foreigners, the ministry said without giving a breakdown of foreign patients’ nationalities.
Two Omani citizens died of COVID-19, taking the total such fatalities in the country to 32, the ministry said. The latest fatalities were aged 65 and 70 and had caught the virus, according to the ministry.
The total recoveries from the disease in Oman have reached 1,821, the ministry said.
Oman this week tightened precautions to stem the spread of the coronavirus, including banning all gatherings during the Eid Al Fitr holiday. Violations are punishable by a fine of 1,500 Omani riyals, the country’s public prosecutor Nasr Bin Khamis said, according to ONA.
