COVID-19: Oman schools will not reopen if virus numbers continue to rise
Restoration of normal services not possible if coronavirus numbers do not decrease
Muscat: The Ministry of Health of Oman has said that returning to normal life is a necessary step but this will only happen with the continued adherence to preventive measures and maintaining social distancing in public places and family gatherings.
In a tweet, the MoH urges citizens and residents to commit themselves to the cause of bringing down the COVID-19 numbers.

HE Dr. Mohammad Al Hosni, Undersecretary for Health Affairs at the Ministry of Health (MOH) has also said that if the numbers continue to rise, schools will not be opened.
Among the key messages reiterated during the 15th press conference was that if the numbers do not decrease, restoration of normal services to the pre-pandemic status would not be possible. Minister of Education Dr. Madiha Al Shaibani, mentioned that the approved framework of reopening schools allows for flexibility and if schools cannot be opened, the method of learning will then shift to distance learning and learning through TV channels.
Dr. Zuwaina Bint Saleh Al Maskeri, Director General of Measurement and Educational Evaluation Centre said that the curricula for the 20-21 academic year has been reduced to 30% of the academic content. “As for exams, we will focus on what takes place in the classroom.” Dr Zuwaina said.
HE Dr. Abdullah Ambusaidi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Education informed that that measures and precautions that apply to public and private schools apply also to pre-school education.
