COVID-19: Oman registers 738 fresh cases, 8 deaths
Cairo: Oman has confirmed 738 new cases of the novel coronavirus, raising to 13,538 the country's overall infections, the Omani news agency ONA reported Wednesday.
The newly diagnosed cases include 324 Omanis and 414 foreign residents, the Health Ministry said without giving a breakdown of foreign patients’ nationalities.
The ministry also reported eight new deaths from COVID-19, taking the country's total such fatalities to 67.
The country's total recoveries from the disease have reached 2,845, it added.
While easing some virus-related curbs, Omani authorities have repeatedly urged businesses and individuals to abide by health precautions and warned against violations.
A number of restaurants were fined in the Governorate of Al Buraimi for violating the decisions and operations conditions set by the Supreme Committee Tackling COVID-19, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said.
Police in the Governorate of Musandam arrested an expatriate for selling clothes inside a house, along with several citizens for gathering and purchasing clothes in violation of a ban on such gatherings, the ROP added.
