Cairo: Oman's Health Ministry Saturday confirmed 463 new cases of the novel coronavirus, raising to 7,257 the country's overall infections, the Omani news agency ONA reported.

The newly diagnosed cases include 210 Omanis and 253 foreigners, the ministry said without giving a breakdown of foreign patients’ nationalities.

Two foreign residents died of COVID-19, taking the total such fatalities in the country to 34, the ministry reported Friday night. The latest fatalities were aged 57 and 60, according to the ministry.

The total recoveries from the disease in Oman have increased by 27 cases to reach 1,848, the ministry said.

Oman has tightened precautions to stem the spread of the coronavirus, banning all gatherings during the Eid Al Fitr holiday. Violations are punishable by a fine of 1,500 Omani riyals.
