COVID-19: Oman announces 38 new coronavirus cases and preventive measures
Oman restricts movement in and out of Muscat
Dubai: Another 38 people in Oman have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases registered in the Sultanate to 457 on Thursday, according to a statement by the Omani health minister.
The minister said two deaths have been registered, while 72 have recovered.
"The number of cases are increasing but we have not reached the climax yet. The precautions taken by the Sultanate, and the pace by which cases are growing can be dealt with," the minister said.
On Wednesday, Oman announced a ban on movement into and out of the governorate of Muscat from April 10 until April 22.
Oman have announced this week the recovery of the youngest coronavirus patient. A one-year-and-a-half baby had contracted the virus from his parents and was admitted to hospital after he suffered rapid, shallow breathing and cough.
The ministry called upon the public to adhere to the isolation procedures by staying in an isolated room attached to a toilet and serving the isolated person from outside the room as instructed.
The ministry urged everyone to adhere strictly to social distancing instructions issued by the Supreme Committee and the MOH, as well as staying at home and not going out unless necessary.
