16 expats, including 11 women, arrested for immoral acts in Oman

Oman law penalises those who publicly commit indecent acts or make indecent statements

Dubai: Sixteen expats, including 11 women, have been arrested in Oman for engaging in immoral acts, the Royal Oman Police announced on Twitter.

“Al Wusta Police, in cooperation with Duqm Special Task Force Police Unit, have arresed 16 expats, including 11 women, on charges of engaging in outrageous acts contrary to public morals,” the ROP said.

Legal action is being taken against them and they will be referred to public prosecution.

According to article 25 of the Omani Penal Code, whoever publicly commits indecent acts or makes indecent statements shall be punished by imprisonment for a period no less than 10 days and not exceeding 3 months, and a fine of no less 100 Omani riyals and not exceeding 300 riyals, or one of those two punishments.
