Government is preparing to vaccinate 10,000 people a day
Kuwait City: The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine will arrive in Kuwait within 10 days, by the end of December, Al Rai reported.
The announcement came after the government authorized emergency use of the COVID-19 vaccine on Sunday.
The Assistant Undersecretary for Drug and Food Control Affairs at the Ministry of Health, Abdullah Al Bader, said in a press statement that approval was granted after a committee conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the vaccine and reviewed the results of the clinical trials.
In addition, the approval was contingent on the Pfizer vaccine receiving FDA approval, which it did on Friday. Vaccination process.
Priority for elderly
The government is preparing to vaccinate 10,000 people a day, according to Khaled Al Saeed, a member of the COVID-19 vaccination committee.
In an effort to understand who will be given priority and the needed quantity, the Ministry of Health launched a website last week for those looking to take the vaccine. Priority will be given to frontline workers, the elderly and those that suffer from chronic illnesses.
The Mishref Fairground has been designated as the headquarters for vaccination and hosts the refrigerators that will be used to store the vaccine upon its arrival.
