Coronavirus: 17 new cases in Kuwait, total increases to 176
Dubai: Kuwait reported 17 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 176, according to Kuwait News Agency.
The newly confirmed cases include 10 Kuwaitis, two Lebanese, two Filipinos, an Egyptian, an Indian and a Somali.
Earlier in the day, the health minister announced five new coronavirus recoveries, bringing the total to 27.
Five cases are in the intensive care unit (ICU) while the rest are receiving medical care.
The Ministry of Health said that a total of 584 suspected people have been discharged from quarantines after confirmation that they were free from the virus.
The ministry called on members of the public to adhere to all recommendations, guidelines and instructions issued by competent authorities and the World Health Organisation (WHO) to contain the spread of the deadly disease.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Kuwait said it shut down a central market for violating rules and instructions issued by competent authorities, which are mainly intended to combat the spread of Covid-19. Meanwhile, it reopened a closed shop after the owner committed to all effective regulations.
According to Kuna, the ministry received 315 complaints on Friday through the hotline and issued 37 fines, after field teams inspected 402 pharmacies, shops and markets to ensure their compliance to all applicable decisions.
