Bahrain, Israel to start postal links soon
Cooperation set to yield ‘positive benefits’
Cairo: Bahrain and Israel will start “shortly” a mutual postal service after sealing a host of joint cooperation pacts, a Bahraini official said.
“This cooperation will generate positive economic benefits in the period ahead,” said Badr bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the assistant undersecretary for the post service at the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Earlier this week, Bahrain and Israel signed in Manama a historic agreement to establish diplomatic relations. Officials from the two nations also signed accords for cooperation in economy, trade, telecommunications, air links and financial services.
Badr said that establishing diplomatic relations with Israel comes in line with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s keenness to promote culture of peace and enhance regional stability and prosperity.
Last month, Bahrain and Israel signed a landmark peace treaty in Washington.
