Fire guts riverside residential district in Manila
MANILA, Philippines: A huge fire gutted several houses in a residential area in Manila on Tuesday.
Two people were reportedly injured as several houses went up in flames in Barangay San Antonio in Quezon City, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Authorities said that the fire started at 10:11 am and was immediately raised to three-alarm fire, which calls for up to 60 firefighters to respond to the incident.
Firefighting volunteers of the Sacramento Filipino Chinese Fire Rescue Brigade Inc reported on social media that that flames had engulfed several homes along West Riverside corner Santiago Street near the San Juan River.
The Bureau of Fire Protection in Quezon City reported that two residents were injured.
The number of houses razed and residents affected was not immediately known.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Bureau of Fire Protection have urged residents to help out in early response to mitigate of fires.
The Philippine is observing National Fire Prevention Month this March.
