Sindh CM for prompt payment of compensation to victims of August 14 terror attack in Karachi

Shah says government to bear expenses for treatment of injured

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has asked his government to make sure that compensation be paid to the victims of August 14 terror attack in Karachi in the next five days.

The CM issued directives to this effect to Deputy Commissioner of District Malir in Karachi as he visited Landhi area to personally meet families that lost loved ones in the August 14 terror incident in the city.

Shah brought with him the official document of the provincial Finance Department, to hand it over to the representatives of the aggrieved families, showing that his government has promptly released Rs14.44 million for payment of compensation to the victims.

The heirs of each of person killed in the tragedy will be given Rs 1 million while every injured person is being paid Rs 200,000. Besides this, the Sindh government has announced it will bear the entire expenses to be borne for treatment of injured people either in the country or in any hospital outside Pakistan. The terror attack killed 13 people, including children and women, and injured eight others of an extended family in Baldia Town area of Karachi as the victims were returning from a wedding function.

Shah said the entire nation stood with the aggrieved family in this hour of trial and sorrow.

Shah said the terror incident was such a cowardly act that no terrorist organisation had claimed responsibility.

He reiterated the firm resolve of his government to use the best technical means available with the provincial police force and security agencies to swiftly trace the culprits behind the incident to hand them stern punishment.
