Plan approved to build Pakistan's second-tallest building in Lahore

Dubai: Pakistan government has relaxed rules and regulations to allow the construction of second tallest building in the country in Lahore.

Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar said that rules and regulations would be relaxed to encourage construction of the multi-storey- buildings in the city.

Presiding over a meeting of governing body of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), the Chief minister directed the committee constituted for this purpose to give final shape to the rules and regulations in this regard to allow construction of skyscrapers in Lahore — the second-largest city in the country after Karachi.

The approval comes in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan for encouraging construction of high-rise buildings to save precious land.

The foundation story for the first ever high-rise building in Lahore will laid at Johar Town’s Finance and Trade Centre (FTC), according to APP, the official news agency of Pakistan.

The high-rise, which will have a five-star hotel, commercial areas, and the head office of a leading private company, will be 500 feet tall – will be the second tallest building in the country after a 62-storey (938 feet) Bahria Icon Tower in Karachi.

The building with three basements and 42-storeys, has parking for 420 vehicles, while 16 per cent of the area allocation of car parking lots is for motorcycle parking. It will have a water treatment plant that will be used for chillers and horticulture.

The tower will be constructed by the Orient Group of Companies.
