Pakistan: Sindh CM celebrates Sindhi Culture Day with students
Murad Ali Shah asks children to protect cultural heritage of the country
Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, on Saturday went to a school in Karachi to spend time with the students to celebrate the annual Sindhi Culture Day.
Shah cut the ribbon to formally inaugurate the exhibition at the premises of St Paul’s High School, for showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the people of Sindh. Schoolchildren wore traditional Sindhi dresses to mark the day.
The school Principal presented a traditional Sindhi cap and shawl, Ajrak, to the CM.
Shah went to the stalls at the exhibition, exchanged cultural day greetings with the students, and saw different traditional items, including handicrafts on display for representation of the Sindhi culture.
Shah also visited the stalls established for representation of the culture of the four provinces and different regions in Pakistan, including the Thar desert and tribal belt in the north.
Speaking to the students and teachers, Shah said he was happy that Sindhi Culture Day was being celebrated like Eid at the school with enthusiastic participation by the children.
He mentioned that people belonging to various religious minorities in the country were fully part of the peculiar cultural identification of Pakistan for the rest of the world.
He said that his government had been doing its best to protect the rights, dignity, and personal freedom of the people associated with different religious minorities so that they could spend their lives in the country with honour and prestige.
Shah advised the students to duly protect the cultural heritage of the land to preserve their identity.
He said that Pakistan was at the crossroads of cultures and civilisations belonging to people of different ethnicities and regions as their inhabitants believed in peaceful co-existence with other communities.
He said that Sindh’s cultural heritage was centuries-old and was known all over the world through its clothes, language, music, songs, literature, food, and other cultural traits associated with the social habits of the Sindhi people.
The CM emphasised that the preservation of the cultural heritage was important for the survival of the people associated with any culture or land.
