Pakistan: 13th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto observed today

Karachi: The programme to mark the 13th death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto is being held on today in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in Larkana District.

The public meeting will be addressed by Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Vice-President of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Maryam Nawaz, and central leaders of Pakistan Democratic Movement.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari owing to his ill-health is likely to address the programme via the video-link.

A nine-member delegation of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) headed by Maryam Nawaz reached Bhutto House, Naudero, to attend the death anniversary programme of Benazir Bhutto.

PPP chairman, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Faryal Talpur, and Sherry Rehman welcomed the delegation.

The PML(N) delegation comprises of Marriyum Aurangzeb, Pervaiz Rasheed, Mohammad Zubair, Captain (retd) Mohammad Safdar, Miftah Ismail, Shah Mohammad Shah, Sania Ashiq, Musadik Malik.

The PML(N)’s delegation will also visit the mausoleum of Benazir Bhutto to pay respect to the late leader of the PPP.

Convoys of the PPP have been reaching Garhi Khuda Bakhsh from different districts of Sindh including Karachi to attend the death anniversary function.

In his message on the eve of the death anniversary, the PPP chairman said that Benazir Bhutto remained a model daughter, sister, wife, mother and ruler of hearts in the Islamic world, and her loss will be felt for centuries in unbiased history.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Benazir Bhutto not only inspired women in a male-dominated society but she unified the whole nation and led it valiantly during the struggle for restoration of democracy and human rights.

PPP chairman said that from bringing in ballistic missile technology to strengthening national defence, from provision of land to landless women farmers to the establishment of First Women Bank, to establishing separate women police stations to introducing anti-polio vaccination, creating employment opportunities, striving for basic freedoms for the people, she spent every moment of her life for working for the nation and its poor citizens, youth, children, and women.
