Dubai: Famous Pakistani comedian and actor Omer Sharif’s daughter Hira Omer died at a hospital in Lahore due to complications after a kidney transplant operation.

The deceased’s family members on Tuesday alleged that a botched operation conducted by a doctor resulted in her death.

Hira’s brother has already filed a complaint with the Punjab Human Organs Transplantation Authority (PHOTA) against the clinic in Pakistan Administered Kashmir, alleging that a doctor and his medical staff conducted illegal transplantation of Hira’s kidney, Geo TV reported.

Adnan Ahmad, PHOTA Deputy Director said a team had been constituted to take action against doctors involved in conducting the medical process illegally.

The deceased’s family said she underwent treatment for three weeks at a private clinic in Pakistan Administered Kashmir. Hira had been brought to a hospital in Lahore five days ago after her health deteriorated, despite the kidney transplantation. They said the clinic had been paid Rs3.4 million for the kidney transplantation surgery.

Veteran Pakistani actor Omar Sharif who was in Houston, US, has cancelled his show and is going back to Pakistan.
