Anonymous Pakistani donates $30 million for quake-hit victims of Turkey and Syria

Sharif deeply moved by the example of the man who wanted to be anonymous

Islamabad: An anonymous Pakistani has walked into the Turkish embassy in the US and donated $30 million for the earthquake victims of Turkey and Syria, APP reported on Saturday

Commenting on Twitter, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that he was deeply moved by the example and generosity of the man.

“These were such glorious acts of philanthropy that enabled humanity to triumph over the seemingly insurmountable odds,” he added.

Sharif on Saturday called Syria’s Prime Minister Hussain Arnous to extend heartfelt sympathies to the people on the human and material loss. He shared that Pakistan had already dispatched the first batch of humanitarian assistance which was being followed up with more relief goods sent via air and land routes.

Meanwhile, about 200 tonnes of relief assistance including tents were sent to the quake-affected of Turkey.

The request for tents was made by the Turkish government to save hundreds of thousands of the quake-affected people who were suffering from freezing cold.
