Two Indian Navy officials killed in freak accident

A helicopter hangar’s door fell seriously injuring on them



Kochi: In a freak accident, two Naval officers were killed here on Thursday after getting trapped beneath the iron shutter of the helicopter hangar, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred around 10am at the Southern Naval Command’s headquarters here.

“The Navy is conducting their probe. Two chief petty officers who were standing in front of the helicopter hangar were seriously injured when the hangar door fell on them. The Naval officials immediately took them to hospital, but their lives could not be saved,” a police officer told IANS on the condition of anonymity.

The Naval authorities are yet to disclose the names of the deceased. Their families have been informed.

An official statement of the Indian Navy is awaited.
