NRI alert: India's passport services suspended for 5 days

All functions of the Passport Seva Portal will be suspended until September 2

The Passport Seva Portal will be unavailable for five days from Thursday, August 29 to Monday, September 2, according to a notice on the official website.

The department official confirmed that the portal will be down for technical maintenance during this period.

The notice specifies that the portal will be inaccessible to both citizens and various agencies, including the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Regional Passport Offices (RPO), Bureau of Immigration (BOI), India Security Press (ISP), Department of Posts (DoP), and police authorities.

Appointments scheduled for August 30 will be rescheduled. Affected applicants will be contacted with new appointment dates and times. Once the maintenance is complete, users will be able to resume applying for appointments and other passport-related services.

What this means for you:
* If you were planning to apply for a new passport or renew an existing one online, you'll need to wait until the maintenance is complete.

* Once the portal is back online, you can resume applying for appointments as usual.
