New Delhi: A doctor was shot dead by two unidentified individuals at Neema Hospital in the Jaitpur area of Delhi, police reported on Thursday.

The victim, Javed Akhtar, was a Unani practitioner (BUMS) who was approached by the assailants seeking medical treatment for an injury on Wednesday.

According to hospital staff, the duo requested to see Dr. Javed after arriving at the hospital. Once granted an appointment in his cabin, they shot him and fled the scene.

Police confirmed that CCTV footage from the hospital captured both suspects leaving the premises. Following the incident, the District Crime Team and FSL Rohini Team were dispatched to investigate.

"A search is underway for the fleeing suspects, and CCTV footage is being analyzed to track them down. All aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated," police stated.

Further details revealed that the suspects are believed to be minors, and initial findings suggest that the killing was targeted and unprovoked.

In a separate incident earlier on Tuesday, a 36-year-old building caretaker was shot dead after intervening in a dispute between two tenants over loud music in Dwarka's Mohan Nagar area, police added.
