Government must come clean and tell exact border situation with China: Rahul Gandhi

Says silence about the border situation with China is fuelling massive speculation

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday urged the Central government to clarify the border situation between India and China, stating that the “government’s silence” over the matter with the neighbouring country is fuelling “massive speculation and uncertainty” at a time of crisis.

Taking to Twitter, the former Congress president said, “The Government’s silence about the border situation with China is fuelling massive speculation and uncertainty at a time of crisis. GOI must come clean and tell India exactly what’s happening. China India Faceoff,” Gandhi tweeted.

Notably, this is the second time that the Congress MP has asked the Centre to break its silence on the matter. On Tuesday too, during his interaction with media persons, he had asked the government to ‘come clean on the issue.’

Earlier he said, what happened with Nepal and why, what is happening in Ladakh should be made clear.

“I cannot see transparency. The issue of Ladakh and China is a live issue. Transparency is required,” he said.

He was responding to a question on the face-off on LAC that was triggered the Chinese objected to road construction and development of infrastructure by India within the Indian territory.

Rahul’s tweet comes on a day government sources clarified that there had been no recent conversation between PM Modi and US President Donald Trump after the latter claimed that the Prime Minister was in a ‘bad mood’ about what’s going on with China.
