New Delhi, India: The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, popularly known as the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train, has achieved a major milestone with the completion of all nine river bridges between Vapi and Surat.

The latest addition is the Kharera River bridge in Navsari district, Gujarat. This brings the total number of completed river bridges in Gujarat to twelve out of the twenty planned. The bridge, which spans 120 meters, was finished on October 29th.

The nine completed bridges span the Kharera, Kolak, Par, Auranga, Purna, Mindhola, Ambika, Kaveri, and Venganiya rivers, passing through Valsad and Navsari districts. Additionally, three other river bridges have been completed outside this segment: over the Dhadhar, Mohar, and Vatrak rivers.

This significant achievement marks continued progress on the 508-kilometer Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor, which aims to revolutionize travel between the two major cities. Once operational, the journey time will be reduced from the current six hours to approximately two hours.

The bullet train project, a joint venture with Japan, is a testament to India's commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth. It is expected to boost connectivity, economic activity, and employment opportunities in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The MAHSR project, a visionary initiative of the government, will usher in a new era of safety, speed, and service for Indian Railways. It will connect major business centers like Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad, contributing to the overall development of the region. The project, sanctioned at a cost of Rs 1,08,000 crore, is poised to elevate India's railway system to international standards.
