Dubai: A fire broke out in a plastic recycling factory in Jebel Ali, Dubai, on Friday morning. Civil Defence were able to bring the blaze under control by early afternoon with no reported injuries, an official told Gulf News.

A Civil Defence spokesperson said that the fire was first reported at 9.21am in a factory near roundabout seven in the Jebel Ali Industrial Estate. Firefighters from five stations were involved in the operation and arrived at the scene within 10 minutes.

Major General Rashid Al Matroushi, director of Dubai Civil Defence, said: “Firefighters controlled the fire from all directions and it is now in the cooling process. The blaze burned wooden and plastic boxes and materials that caused thick smoke. Nobody was injured.

“We prevented it from spreading to other factories,” he added.
