Sharjah Police to issue desert driver licences

The decision will be implemented in cooperation with Sharjah Tourism Development Authority

Sharjah:

Keen on hitting the dunes in your personal four-wheel drive? There’s now a licence for that.

The Sharjah Driving Institute of Sharjah Police has launched training and issuing of new desert driver licenses for individuals.

The decision will be implemented in cooperation with Sharjah Tourism Development Authority (TRA), starting from Wednesday, October 24, in order to enhance security and safety and to preserve the lives of families who travel.

This comes in line with Sharjah Police’s keenness to develop the level of service provided to the public, ensuring achievement of the strategic objective of the Ministry of Interior to enhance customer satisfaction.

The desert driving programme includes a special training course in driving. It includes theoretical and practical training at the Sharjah Driving Institute in desert areas and over sand dunes and how to deal with the vehicle if stuck in the sand.

The institute announced earlier the issuance of commercial desert driver licenses for desert safari companies.
