Ramadan 2020: UAE moves Quran classes and Fatwas online

Programs were put online to encourage the public on social distancing and staying home

Dubai: Ramadan is set to start on Friday, April 24, amid the movement restrictions in place, UAE General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments announced online programs and special activities to mark the holy month.

Speaking at the briefing on Wednesday, Abdul Rahman Al Shamsi, spokesperson for UAE General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments said "several programs and special activities were put online to mark the holy month of Ramadan, and to encourage the public to be committed to social distancing and stay at home."

According to Al Shamsi, General Authority of Islamic Affairs moved all of its Ramadan programs and activities online, including e-awareness sessions via social media platforms and online Fatwa(s) given by UAE Fatwa Council in addition to the authority’s daily televised programs on TV and radio channels.

The authority also launched a smart interactive platform in which virtual classes teaching the Holy Quran are offered throughout the month of Ramadan. Registration in virtual classes can be done via the authority’s website and/or smart application.
