Dubai Summer Surprises begins: All you can see and do over the weekend

DSS’ biggest ever edition has a huge line up of events and offers

Dubai: The opening weekend of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2024 is here, marking the start of 10 weeks of new and only-in-Dubai experiences, events, shopping, hotel and attraction offers, and gastronomy treats. With thousands of exceptional offers and things to do, see, and explore across the city, there are more ways than ever to experience a summer well spent in Dubai.

Kicking off the season of endless summer fun and endless brilliant bargains, the DSS Opening Weekend Celebrations will light up Dubai’s malls today and tomorrow. Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), visitors can expect live entertainment, featuring a dynamic mix of music, dance, and performing arts.

City Centre Mirdif is hosting acts by Norwegian dance group Quick Style, Jordanian indie band Autostrad, Jordanian-Palestinian singer and songwriter Dana Salah, and Iraqi–Canadian singer and songwriter Ali Gatie; while Mall of the Emirates is welcoming DJ Keza, DJ Tala Samman, and DJ Sonya to spin their beats alongside dance performances by Hallway Boyz, Moto Dancers, and a Bharatnatyam and Hip-Hop Fusion. Dubai Festival City Mall is hosting parades, dances, and stilt walkers for performances of technicolour.

Music aficionados can also enjoy three opening weekend concerts at the Coca-Cola Arena. Legendary performers Georges Wassouf and Al Shami will perform today, while rappers Xzibit, D12 and Obie Trice will take the stage tomorrow; followed by Ethiopia’s pop star Teddy Afro on June 30.

25 years of Modesh World

Dubai’s summertime destination Modesh World will mark the 25th anniversary of one of the region’s largest indoor entertainment and amusement facilities. Families and children can expect a celebratory atmosphere at Dubai World Trade Centre Halls 3-8 as the free-to-enter destination promises 170 rides and attractions, alongside live entertainment, fun and interactive workshops, and giveaways.

BOGO OFFERS
Offering great value to everyone is the exclusive DSS Entertainer package, which unlocks over 7,000 buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) offers across a selection of the dining, attractions, water parks, beauty, fitness locations and other destination experiences across Dubai.
Available until September 1 and valid for three months from the date of activation, the DSS Entertainer is priced at just Dh195 with all offers being redeemable every day of the week. Users can share BOGO vouchers with up to three friends and enjoy pocket-friendly fun with their loved ones this DSS.

The region’s kid-influencer @shfa_family will make a special appearance alongside Modesh and his friend Dana on June 29 to meet and greet fans, while a packed schedule of unmissable events and indoor adventures continues until August 18 for families.

Key highlights include an Inflatable Park, an Animal World Play Area, more than 100 arcade games and VR experiences, informative workshops, live shows, thrilling rides, soft play areas, inflatable slides, skilled games, and much more. Modesh World is open from 10am to 10pm on Mondays to Thursdays, and from 10am to 12am on Fridays to Sundays.

The opening weekend of DSS also sees the launch of Movie Magic brought by DSS, where Roxy Cinemas across the city will be abuzz with activities. Families can catch their favourite films on the big screen all weekend. Kids can unleash their creative genius via arts and crafts activities, face painting, games, and much more. Visitors can expect daily surprises, win prizes, receive unexpected treats, and enjoy delicious combo deals on tickets and snacks. Modesh and Dana will also host special movie events throughout the summer, including the arrival of the Minions in key destinations across Dubai for the exclusive screening of Despicable Me 4 on July 4.

Shoppers can dive into the DSS 12 Hour Sale on Friday, till 10pm. For one day only, discounts of up to 90 per cent are on offer across more than 100 brands at Majid Al Futtaim mall. Participating malls include Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, City Centre Deira, City Centre Me’aisem, and City Centre Al Shindagha. Shoppers spending Dh300 or more can download the SHARE app, and head to the Spin the Wheel activation zone at Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, and City Centre Deira for a chance to win instant prizes or SHARE points across the malls.

A season of sales will continue throughout the summer with DSS sales bringing the 10 weeks of the best bargains across more than 800 top brands at over 3,500 stores, offering discounts of up to 75 per cent.

DSS has unveiled exclusive promotions throughout the summer. Starting this weekend, huge prizes are up for grabs with the SHARE Millionaire campaign, the win a Lexus with Dubai Festival City Mall promotion, spend and win programmes at WAFI City and Mercato Mall, Win with Ticket raffles, and much more.
