Washington: The UAE Embassy in Washington, in collaboration with representatives from the official UAE scholarship authorities in the USA, successfully evacuated 34 Emirati citizens from Tampa, Florida, as Hurricane Idalia neared the west coast of the state.

Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the US, emphasised the UAE’s unwavering commitment to the safety of its citizens abroad. He stated that the embassy in Washington promptly initiated evacuation measures for Emirati citizens in Florida in response to the looming threat. As a result, 16 citizens were relocated to Miami and 18 to Atlanta.

The UAE Embassy has issued a strong advisory to residents, urging them to steer clear of areas affected by the cyclone and to follow guidelines laid out by local authorities. They also emphasised the importance of reporting emergencies to the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs via the 0097180024 hotline and recommended registration in the Twajudi service.
