Dubai: A terrifying mid-air incident unfolded aboard Plus Ultra Flight 701 when a passenger allegedly tried to open an emergency exit at 35,000 feet. The flight, travelling from Madrid’s Barajas Airport to Caracas, Venezuela, on February 28, was flying over the Atlantic Ocean when chaos erupted, according to the Daily Mail.

According to fellow passengers, the man suddenly jumped from his seat and began forcefully pulling at the emergency door lever. His actions sent shockwaves through the cabin, with passengers screaming in fear as others rushed to assist flight attendants in restraining him.

Video footage from the flight captured the tense moments, showing crew members wrestling the passenger away from the door. Eventually, he was subdued and restrained, lying on the floor with his hands tied behind his back. He remained under constant supervision for the rest of the journey.

During the altercation, at least one flight attendant suffered injuries.

A Plus Ultra spokesperson explained, “A passenger became restless, disturbing a fellow traveller by shouting. The crew swiftly relocated him, but moments later, he attempted to manipulate an exit door. Our cabin crew immediately subdued and secured him until landing.”

The airline confirmed that a crew member sustained a partial fibula fracture and will be out of service for several weeks.
