Sydney: An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 struck on Tuesday on New Zealand's north island, the United States Geological Survey said.
There were no immediate reports of a tsunami warning, damage or casualties from the quake, which hit 63km east of the city of New Plymouth, at a depth of 228km.
