Sulaimaniya: Turkish warplanes attacked 10 villages in northern Iraq on Sunday, killing one woman and wounding two others, local officials said.
The mayors of Jarawa and Sankasar, two towns northeast of Sulaimaniya, said the airstrikes were launched at 2300 GMT and continued for several hours.
Several homes and a school were destroyed, they said.
In Ankara, the Turkish military General Staff said its warplanes had attacked Kurdish rebel targets.
Turkish ground forces have also been shelling the area where the guerrillas are believed to be operating, the Turkish military said in a statement.
