Gaza City: Three Palestinians were killed on Monday evening during an Israeli air raid on the southern part of the Gaza Strip, Palestinian medical sources said.

The Palestinians, who had just got out of a car near Al Bureij refugee camp, were members of the Al Quds Brigade, the military wing of radical Palestinian group Islamic Jihad, the sources said.

A spokeswoman for the Israeli army confirmed that an attack had been carried out against a "group of terrorists who were preparing to fire rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel".

She added: "The pilots indicated that the targets had been hit."
