Baghdad: At least nine people have been killed and 39 injured after two bombs exploded in north Baghdad.
The blasts, which happened within minutes of each other, were aimed at an Iraqi army patrol at a busy intersection of the city.
Police sources said that two of the dead and eight of the wounded were Iraqi soldiers.
In the north-east of the Iraqi capital, two people were killed after gunmen opened fire on a procession of pilgrims heading to the Shiite holy city of Karbala.
